Tonight for dinner we had spinach and ham keish, with green beans, salad, and cheese. The keish was very good, and so where the green beans, but the salad was a bit sub-standard because my dad tried to get creative by adding mint and radish greens, and I'm a salad purist, so that didn't go over very well with me. We had two types of cheeses. The first was a Taleggio made in the Tallegio valley in Lombardy. I actually only had one piece of it, so my insight would not be that accurate. The seond type of cheese was a Roomano, made in Friesland in the Netherlands. It tasted like Parmigiano, but sweeter, and 100 times better. The dinner got a 8.3/10 rating.
Tonight for dinner we had cheeseburgers and fries. My dad usually makes a mean burger, but tonight the burger wasn't that mean, and overdone. The fries for once where homemade (even though the photo shows they are not, because the photo is a few months old). The dinner got a 6.5/10 rating.
Tonight for dinner we had pizza made by my dad. The best kind was one with roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary, leek and pancetta sauteed in cream, topped by goat cheese. We also had a pepperoni, but the dough on that one tasted like Irish soda bread. The dinner got a 8.5/10 rating.
Today for lunch I had a Godmother sandwich from Bay Cities. A Godmother is genoa salami, mortadella, coppacola, ham, prosciutto, provolone, mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, Italian dressing, on their bread which is amazing. The Godmother is one of my three favorite sandwiches (the other two are a French dip from Phillipe's, and a Pastrami from Langers). The lunch got a 9.3/10 rating.
Tonight I tried another brand of eggnog, this time made by Clover Organic Farms, a brand that I respect. It was like a mix between the Alta Dena and Organic Valley, which is a good thing. The one weird thing about it was that it tasted like banana bread. It gets a 7.9/10 rating.
Today I tried a couple of more brands of eggnog. The first one was made by Organic Valley, and it was quite excellent, getting a 7/4/10 rating. It had a sharp taste, and had a great blend of spice and sweet. The second on I tried was made by Alta Dena. It was Alta Dena's honey sweetened eggnog, and it was the best eggnog I have ever tried. It had a butter like taste to it, and it felt like it was melting in my mouth, getting a 9/1o rating.
