Burger

Tonight for dinner we had cheeseburgers and fries. My dad usually makes a mean burger, but tonight the burger wasn't that mean, and overdone. The fries for once where homemade (even though the photo shows they are not, because the photo is a few months old). The dinner got a 6.5/10 rating.

Pizza

Tonight for dinner we had pizza made by my dad. The best kind was one with roasted potatoes with garlic and rosemary, leek and pancetta sauteed in cream, topped by goat cheese. We also had a pepperoni, but the dough on that one tasted like Irish soda bread. The dinner got a 8.5/10 rating.

The Godmother

Today for lunch I had a Godmother sandwich from Bay Cities. A Godmother is genoa salami, mortadella, coppacola, ham, prosciutto, provolone, mayo, mustard, onions, pickles, tomatoes, lettuce, Italian dressing, on their bread which is amazing. The Godmother is one of my three favorite sandwiches (the other two are a French dip from Phillipe's, and a Pastrami from Langers). The lunch got a 9.3/10 rating.

Paella

Last night for dinner we had paella made by my dad. My dad spent a long time making this dish, and his effort will boost up the rating, The paella was excellent, and actually, for dinner tonight we had leftovers, and it was even better. We also had bread, olives, and cheese, and for dessert we had a British flaming putting (I don't remember the real name of it.) The thing with the pudding is that it is really cool when the liquor is poured on top and it begins flaming, but I am not that crazy about the taste. The dinner got a 9.2/10 rating.

Even More Eggnog

Tonight I tried another brand of eggnog, this time made by Clover Organic Farms, a brand that I respect. It was like a mix between the Alta Dena and Organic Valley, which is a good thing. The one weird thing about it was that it tasted like banana bread. It gets a 7.9/10 rating.

More Eggnog

Today I tried a couple of more brands of eggnog. The first one was made by Organic Valley, and it was quite excellent, getting a 7/4/10 rating. It had a sharp taste, and had a great blend of spice and sweet. The second on I tried was made by Alta Dena. It was Alta Dena's honey sweetened eggnog, and it was the best eggnog I have ever tried. It had a butter like taste to it, and it felt like it was melting in my mouth, getting a 9/1o rating.

Spinach Quiche

Tonight for dinner we had spinach quiche, and salad. The quiche was very good, and the texture was perfect. The salad was nothing special, considering that my brother took all the croutons. The dinner got a 8.3/10 rating.

Thanksgiving

Tonight was Thanksgiving, and for dinner we had spit roasted turkey, brussel sprouts with bacon, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, and gravy. Now, this may sound weird, but my least favorite part of Thanksgiving has always been the turkey. Now I am not saying that it is bad, but I am not big bird eater (I go for pork, beef, and fish). Nevertheless, the turkey was very good. Brussel sprouts transform from a mediocre dish, into one of my favorite foods in the world if bacon is addes in to them, and that is how they where prepared tonight, and of course, they where superb. The mashed potatoes where nothing special, just mashed potatoes. The stuffing was great, not a good as the brussel sprouts, but still very good. I did not eat any sweet potatoes because the table where my mom put the food was very dark, and only light by a candel, so i did not see them. The gravy made the meal from a very good dinner, into a excellent dinner. For dessert we had pumpkin pie, apple pie, and cranberry cake, all of which would have been very good if I had not been so full when I ate them. The dinner got a 8.99/10 rating, missing the "A" range by just a hair.

Trader Joes Egg Nog

You can tell it's almost Christmas season when stores start having egg nog. This Christmas season, I've decided to rate every type of egg nog we drink. The type my mom bought (although she hates egg nog) was from Trader Joe's, and let me tell you, it was horrible. It was very spicy, as in it had a lot if spices in it, and it tasted like horchata mixed with who knows what. It gets a 3.2/10 rating for nice colors on the carton.

Carne Asada

Tonight for dinner we had carne asada, and pollo asado a la parrilla (which is grilled chicken). I put both the meats in a tortilla with pinto beans, salsa, and Red Roster Louisiana Hot Sauce, which in my opinion is the best hot sauce there is. It was all satisfying. The dinner got a 8.6/10 rating.

Bolognese Ragu

Tonight for dinner we had Bolognese Ragu, arugula salad, and polenta which did not make it on my plate. The pasta was very rich and meaty, and was excellent, but the salad I was somewhat disappointed, as my dad went a bit overboard on the parmensan cheese. The dinner got a 8.3/10 rating.

Maui Beef Ribs

Tonight for dinner we had Maui beef ribs, and chicken fried rice. The beef ribs tasted excellent, but the texture of the meat was very gamy and fatty. The fried rice was good, nothing special. The dinner got a 7.8/10 rating.

Burgers and Fries

Tonight for dinner we had burgers and fries. The meat for the burgers was from Bob's Market, which is a excellent place to buy any type of meat. I keep on telling my Mom that we have to get a deep fryer, because I am sick eating frozen crinkle cut fries. The dinner got a 8.5/10 rating.

Black Pasta

Tonight for dinner we had black pasta with red sauce. Thats right, black pasta, which is normal pasta with 2% squid ink. At first I thought that it would taste the same as normal pasta, but it did have a strange taste to it, and the texture was very weird, almost like Jello. We also had garlic bread and salad which where better than the black pasta. The dinner got a 6/10 rating.

Fried Chicken

This evening for dinner we had fried chicken and corn bread. Both of these items where from Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, and where both excellent. The dinner got a 7.4/10 rating due to early dinning time.

Vote For Ketchup

Over the last couple of weeks, my mom and I have been getting in to a bit of a debate over ketchup. Tonight, this debate was brought up during dinner at a friends house. Here is what the debate is all about. I'm a purist when it comes to ketchup, and I feel that the only type of ketchup to even consider purchasing is Heinz. My mom on the other hand has a different opinion on this, and feels that buying organic ketchup is the right thing to do, and they taste the same. The tasting the same thing is what really gets me irritated because it is not true. The organic ketchup taste like canned tomatoes drizzled with vinegar, while the Heinz tastes like a true ketchup. Also is the texture. Most organic ketchup's are far to thick and creamy, while the Heinz has a smooth and saucy feel to it. I am going to post a poll, and please vote on your opinion.

Labor Day

Tonight for dinner we had burgers, fries, corn on the cob, salad, and pie. The burgers where very good, but my main complain is that right now my burps taste like a burger. The fries where from McDonald's, yes you heard right, McDonald's, but nevertheless the where good. The corn was corn, and the salad was excellent, but my complaint was the avocado added in it. For dessert we had a pie that was very good, but I forget what type it happened to be. The dinner got a 8.7/10 rating.

Plain Boring Pizza

Tonight my parents went out for a birthday party, and made us eat pizza, not homemade pizza, but take out common pizza. The pizza and if not for my parents lack of enthusiasm in the process of preparing dinner it would have got a higher rating, say a 8/10, instead of the rating 0f 7/10.

Philippes

Tonight for dinner we went to Philippes, the home of the French Dip, which is one of my top five favorite places to eat on par with Langers, and the Apple Pan. To eat I had a pork dip, coleslaw, lemonade, and for dessert I had boysenberry pie. The pork dip was perfect, and the coleslaw and pie where just as good. The dinner got a very high rating of 9.3/10.

Pizza

Tonight for dinner we had pizza, salad and chocolate. The pizza was very good, but the salad was quite unsatisfactory, as the dressing was lacking tang to it. The chocolate was brought all the way from Switzerland by my grandma, and it was very nice. The dinner got a 8.4/10 rating.

Hambugers

Tonight for dinner we had hamburgers and "home fries" for dinner. my burger was cooked with a mix of cheddar and Gruyere cheese, which was very good. My burger was a bit over-cooked, but that is not my fault, but my dad's. The fries where nothing special. My main complaint is that right now I am VERY thirsty. The dinner got a 7.8/10 rating.

Pizza

Tonight it was the MLB All Star Game 2009 presented by Gillette Fusion Power. During every All Star game it is tradition that we all (not my mom, she leaves and goes somewhere else) have pizza for dinner. Tonight was the same as we had homemade pizza for dinner. It was very good, but nothing special. The dinner got a 7/10, or a C minus rating.

Bob's Donuts

Today for a snack I had a doughnut from Bob's Coffee and Donuts, which is one of my favorite doughnut stands in the world. I had a crumb doughnut which was excellent. The snack got a 8.9/10 rating.

Chicken

Tonight for dinner we grilled chicken, green beans, and roasted potatoes. I am not usually a big fan of chicken, but tonight the chicken was very good, and I was about to call it perfect until I took a bit a got a chewy sinew. The green beans where a major disappointment, and the reason for this was that my Mum put anchovies in them, and as a result, they where left a fishy taste. The potatoes where very good, and tasted like French fries topped in garlic. The dinner got a 8.5/10.

Lunch

Today for lunch I had a prosciutto and Brie sandwich. It was very good, and I was going to have a second one, but my Dad took the last of the baguette, To drink I had a passion fruit Italian soda, which was great. The reason for the quality of this soda was that I discovered the perfect ratio for the syrup to the bubbly water. I am not about to disclose any info on this. The lunch got a 8.7/10 rating.

Salad Nicoise

Tonight for dinner we had salad nicoise with cheese and bread. The salad nicoise was very good, but my complaint about it was that it had radishes in it, and I do not fancy radishes in my salad. The cheese was from the Andrew's Cheese Shop, and two of the three cheeses where good. One of them was a chedder, another was a Spainish cheese, and the other I forget what it was, because I only had one piece of it. The dinner got a 8/10 rating.

Ribs

Tonight for dinner we had Maui pork ribs at Dean and Catriona's house. They where very good, but I thought that they where a little fatty, but that is Traders Joes promblem. For dessert we had ice cream topped with chocolate sauce and peaches. It was also very good, but i thought that the chocolate sauce was not melted enough, and the peaches where not cold enough. We also had this raspberry water to drink which tasted like Vitamen Water. The dinner got a 8.2/10 rating. The movie will not be avalible for this posting, due to some technical promblems during the uploading process, but I can provide a select few screen shots from the original videos.

Pizza and Salad

Tonight for dinner we had homemade pizza and salad for dinner. The pizza was very good, but the salad was not to great as it had radishes in it, and I dislike them radishes in my salad. The dinner got a 8.2/10 rating.

Mexican

Tonight we had Mexican food for dinner. It included burritos, salsa that was made by me. The burritos where good , but my complaint was that their was no meat in the burritos, and I do not like bean and cheese burritos. The salsa was very good. The dinner got a 6.7/10 rating.

Hambugers

Tonight we had hamburgers, french fries, and for dessert we had Beard Papas cream puffs. The burgers where excellent (note that I use the word excellent, a word that is used seldom on this blog). The meat was freshly ground from Bob's Market, and they where cooked perfectly. The french fries on the other hand where not as good, as my mom once again got the frozen variety instead of making her own from scratch. We also had root beer and cream soda made by Thomas Kemper the root beer was execellent but the cream soda was not as good, as it tasted a bit like carbonated cough syrup. Be sure eto check out their webite by clicking on the link, it is really cool. For dessert we had cream puffs from Papa Beards and as normal they where very good. Overall, the dinner, thanks to the bugers, got a 8.8/10 rating.

Lunch

Today for lunch I had Bay Cities bread with olive oil, burrata cheese, and sorano ham. It was very good and got a 8.5/10 rating.

Pizza

Tonight we had homemade pizza and salad for dinner. The pizza was cooked very nicely, but the salad was off the mark as my dad went off on one of his exotic salad dressing rampages. The dinner got a 7/10 rating.

We Are Back

We are back.
Be sure to vote on the poll.

Camping

Night 1:
Tonight we had beef and bison chili which was made by John. We also had corn bread which was made by Catriona, and she also made guacamole. The beans in the chile where a little undercooked, and the corn bread was too dry. For dessert we had clafouti made by Catriona, which was very good. The dinner got a 7.4/10 rating.

Night 2:
Tonight we had Mediterriean food for dinner. It included lamb patties wrapped in pitasdribbled with yogurt sauce, and a so-called salad that was not very good. The lamb patties on the other had where very good, and the dinner got 7.7/10 rating.

Morning 2:
This morning we had bacon and eggs for breakfast. The bacon was cooked on the BBQ, and as a result it was very good and smokey. I am not a very big fan of eggs, in fact I stated I hated them the night before, and this morning was no different, as my eggs where cold. The breakfast got a 8/10 rating thanks to the bacon.

Night 3:
Tonight we had meat and Caesar salad. The meats included tri-tip, Korean boneless ribs, and Hawaiian boneless beef ribs. My favorite type of meat was the Hawaiian  boneless, and my least favorite was the tri-tip. All the meat was made by Peter. The Caesar salad was also very good, and it was made by Beth. For dessert we had S'mores, and the one I made was really good, as I used one normal junky marshmallow, and one fancy chocolate marshmallow. The dinner got a 9/10 rating.
